Not all Dutch coaches are created equal

We all would have seen, read and reviewed about the Holland versus Portugal match this morning. The Russian referee has followed the path of Boris Yelstin by seemingly making a mess of things. Now Seep Blatter (FIFA president) has the 'galls' to say that he was over zealous with the yellow cards.

To recap, the Russian ref handed out 20 yellow cards which resulted in 4 players being sent off. At the end of the match both teams had 9 players on the pitch. It made for a comical match and obviously a number of players were slightly peeved.

But the issue I want to discuss is not the referee. It is Dutch coach Marco Van Basten. As a player he was class, part of those great Dutch teams that came close but were not good enough.

To Coach Van Basten, what were you thinking by keeping Ruud Van Nistlerooy on the bench? Your team and country had nothing to lose by attacking more. You were down a goal with a one man advantage and as the players kept being sent off the game opened up.

So why did you leave one of the better strikers on the bench.

Was this a result of the ego taking over. Well as a result, your team is out of the world cup, which is sad as they had the quality to progress.

Another Dutch adventure ending in disappointment for its fans.

Losing 1-0 or 3-3 wasn't going to make a big difference.

Instead of van Nistelrooy MVB brings on Vannegoor of Hasselink instead.

Who the fifi is this fella? And why does he have such a stylo-mylo name? Any why did he have to put the entire bloody name on his jersey???

My thots on the match were whoever loses, England wins. For once I hope I'm wrong.
